Dear Cliffdale Elementary “All Star” Family:

Your child’s safety is our number one priority in Cumberland County Schools.  Our mission is that “all schools will be safe and caring and student achievement will continually increase.”  Each school has a crisis team and a plan for responding to crisis.

In an effort to improve our crisis response, we will be conducting a system wide “Code Red” lockdown drill on Monday morning, September 10, 2018.

“Code Red” lockdown is defined as a high alert status used when there is an immediate danger in the school or on the property.  During this drill, classroom and other doors will be closed and locked.  Faculty and staff will move students to the most secure area in the classroom, out of view.

Students will be asked to sit on the floor in a tucked position.  Staff will also turn off the lights and close the blinds.  Everyone will remain in this position until an “all clear” signal is given.

We want you to know that this is a scheduled practice drill and not a real emergency.  In the event of a real crisis, School Officials would contact you for instructions on when and where to pick up your child.

Please contact Cumberland County Schools Safety and Security Office at

678-2488 if you have any questions.
